Our Quid Covid sub-study sought to understand the extent of the epidemic in the canton of Neuchâtel during the first wave, in response to the lack of availability of PCR tests at that time.
We thus analyzed two distinct populations reported to the cantonal physician: people who had symptoms but could not be tested (probable cases), and people who tested positive with the PCR method.
The design of our study was developed to answer several questions:
- The proportion of symptomatic individuals who were indeed infected with SARS-CoV-2;
- The proportion of people tested positive who still have antibodies after several months;
- The favourable settings of transmission (travel, work, family, leisure activities, etc.);
- Acceptance of health measures among people who tested positive;
- The risk of transmission within professional settings.
The study started in June 2020 and ended at the end of October. The results and hypothesis analyses phase will take place from November 2020 to mid 2021.
