The Ciao Corona study examines seroprevalence and its change over time as well as the accumulation of cases within randomly selected classes, schools and districts of Zurich of children and adolescents between 5 and 16 years of age shortly after school reopening after the lock-down in spring 2020 and beyond. In addition, symptoms and risk factors of Covid-19 in children and adolescents will be examined in more detail with the help of questionnaires. We will also determine the seroprevalence of the school staff and parents of the children participating in the study. According to current planning, we expect three test phases: after the lock-down in 2020, autumn 2020 and spring 2021. So far, we have been able to include approximately 2600 children and 3500 parents and teachers in the study.
The results of the Ciao Corona study have been published in the British Medical Journal on 17th of March 2021.
